Attorney Profiles

Kenneth W. Hannegan, Retired CHP, Attorney at Law

I was employed with the California Highway Patrol for fourteen years. After having been struck by a vehicle, I was forced to retire on an Industrial Disability Retirement against my will. After going through the Workers' Compensation system and the retirement process, I realized all of the problems and complications facing individuals caught in a similar situation. I was fortunate in that I had my law degree, so I became employed by Mr. William T. Hays, a pioneer in Workers' Compensation law. In 1981, I opened my own office and since then, I have represented "safety employees" and their families in both "on duty" as well as "off duty" injuries.

Our office specializes in representing "safety members" (police and fire) in their Workers' Compensation Cases, Personal Injury Cases and other legal matters.

I am proud of my Associates: Brooke Tafreshi and Phil Rennick. Brooke and I became associated approx. 5 years ago. I was impressed with her knowledge of the law and her ability to care for clients. Her integrity and her abilities enhance her position as a strong advocate for the injured client.

Phil, I've known for many years. He has been very active in the California Association of Highway Patrolmen as an area representative as well as a varied career with the CHP. "Having Been There" gives us a better approach and knowledge in handling your case. We know what the "job" entails.

Contact us if you ever have a question or I can assist you in any way.

Brooke B. Tafreshi, Attorney at Law

I have been practicing law for over 13 years, primarily specializing in Personal Injury cases. I have a true passion for representing injured victims, in order to compensate them for the pain and inconvenience that they have experienced. I will always go above and beyond for our clients. Our clients are our top priority, and we will help each of them through the entire difficult process. Since I know that accidents affect all aspects of our client's lives, it is my goal to make our client's "whole," and attempt to bring them back to their pre-injury state. It is of paramount importance for me to fight for our clients in order to obtain the most favorable outcome in every situation.

In addition to my extensive personal injury experience, I have been practicing Workers' Compensation Law for over 7 years. Since I am well versed in both personal injury matters and workers' compensation matters, I am able to help you navigate through the claims, litigation, and subrogation process most efficiently. I take pride in educating our clients on how both personal injury and workers' compensation cases often work hand-in-hand, especially with on-duty “safety members." Even if the person at fault is uninsured or under-insured, you may still have a claim under your own personal automobile policy coverages. Our office specializes in representing "safety members," and their family and friends with their Workers' Compensation matters (both on-duty and off-duty), and personal injury matters. If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident, please contact us at your earliest convenience.

Philip D. Rennick, Retired CHP, Attorney at Law

I was employed with the Highway Patrol for 31 years retiring at the rank of Sergeant. I worked in San Francisco, Oakland, Williams, San Jose, Bureau of Internal Affairs and Willows Areas. I served as an Area Representative and as a Supervisor Representative for the CAHP for many years. I worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Colusa County for 7 years and as a Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor for the California District Attorney's Association for 4 years before going to work for Ken Hannegan in 2017. Our office specializes in representing "Safety Members" in their Worker's Compensation Cases, Personal Injury Cases and other legal matters.
